There is hardly any disadvantage of this new technology. However, at this present, there is a temporary disadvantage, that is VCR is not yet available in a mass numbers. Maybe because it is still in its early childhood. But in a soon future, it will become popular to its customers with low cost, when it is distributed in mass numbers in market.

Another disadvantage of VCR is that if the subjects is predominantly retinal damaged, then there is a slightly disadvantage for using VCR

New technology virtual retinal display can be applied to many fields and replace other technology, tools such as Army equipment, Medic applications, cell phones improvement etc...

Virtual retinal display is being incoporated for making helmet-mounted display in Army. In army, it usually comes to death and live decisions, but if that the information needed to make a decision is presented in a graphical and intuitive fashion, then it will reduce a lot of workload for soldiers and increase effectiveness in disadvantageous situations. With virtual retinal display, it is capable to provide full-color graphical in both days and night operations.

VCR techonolgy will also be applied in cell phones and pagers industry. VCR allows users to go right into business network, internet or checking email, websites, faxes as if it was on the full-size computer. Therefore, VCR will provide greater conveinence for its users.

VCR also improve medic utilities. For example, in an surgeon, the doctor can watch in the display vital data of the patient such as blood pressure and heart rate. There are also more of utilitites tha VCR can bring into Medic.

LCD Screen


With new VCR technology, it potentially replace LCD screens in cell phones, monitor, hand-held computers, hand-held gaming systems, and even screen of laptops.

LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. Inside a LCD screen, there are 2 sheets of
polarizing material with liquid crystal in the middle. The liquid crystal works as a shutter which allow or not allow lights to pass through them.

Virtual Retinal Display






A virtual retinal display is a display technology that draws a raster display ( like monitor, television) into the retina of the eyes. It is also called as retinal scan display. The user will see the illusion of the source image as if he/she stands close to a casting television ( or a monitor) but in reality, the image is on the retina of its eye but not on a screen.
